  1. Have you read Goldie’s autobiography? It’s rather good, and outlines his progression through homelessness, to care homes, to his love for early Buzzcocks, PIL and even bands like Discharge ( yikes! ) and onto early 80’s Dancehall/sound culture… very good, but one gets the sense that the ghost writer put a little too much of himself into Goldie’s words…sometimes the style and syntax just don’t ring true…. mind you, have you read Dee Dee Ramone’s autobiography? The publisher told me he literally, turned up at the office with f****ing SHOEBOXES full of his scrawl on airplane sickbags, old post it notes etc, and said “ok, how much? This is my story, you put it together, and give me the dollar bills…..” Gotta laught, gotta love it….it’s a fine book actually, even though the style is, in this case too, all over the place…hardly surprising given the circumstances tho…..

  2. goldie was actually a pretty famous graf artist for a minute.

people talk a lot of trash about him, but hes got histroy and credibility beneath that growing old and washed out watered down thing hes been having go on with himself for a while now.

  3. Yeah I keep meaning to get that book out of the library. Could be a laff – the Ramones story is very funny! Goldie is alright, I reckon. The documentary on him meeting up with his estranged dad was very good and he has released some awesome records over the years. And been in Eastenders, heh!

  4. Nice one John — yet the only reservations I have about Goldie come from reading that he really rates……errrr…..uuurrrmmmm….wait for it …10CC.. ( ! ) Whom he described as “f***ing heavy” or stunningly inappropriate words to that effect….I was stunned…. Now Goldie namechecking Stoke on Trent’s finest Clay Records, now that I can take….but 10CC???

( And I still say you should smell that annoying phoney “I am for the people” Anita Roddicks’s soap….she is deeply annoying…the soap isnt’ !…. tho where did she get that range name…? Adorno’s prophecies come true….)
